In commemoration of International Men’s Day 2025, ipNX hosted an engaging virtual health webinar, themed “Redefining Wellness for the Modern Man” aimed at sensitizing men across the organization with essential health knowledge as well as a reminder to prioritize their mental and emotional well-being.
Aligned with this year’s theme “Celebrating Men and Boys,” the webinar addressed the growing need for men who are often seen as leaders, fathers, mentors, colleagues and caretakers to balance their responsibilities with taking care of their own health.
The session highlighted the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding men’s mental health, encouraging open conversations, and fostering proactive care. In a world where vulnerability in men is often frowned upon, it is increasingly being recognized that it is okay for men to be open about their struggles. This allows them to shed the façade of always being strong and to prioritize their health amidst the many responsibilities they shoulder.
The session featured insights from Dr. Shotonade Joshua Olatokunbo, a medical doctor with expertise spanning psychology, preventive healthcare, and overall wellness. Speaking during the event, Dr. Shotonade emphasized the urgent need for men to address mental health concerns without fear or stigma. According to him, “many men feel they must always be strong and hide their struggles, as not hiding their struggles shows a sign of weakness which isn’t true. Because, holding it in can have serious consequences, from stress and depression to tragic outcomes like suicide.”
During the webinar, participants were provided with practical strategies to manage mental health challenges, including the importance of talking to someone they trust, seeking professional help, maintaining emotional balance, and supporting peers in prioritizing their well-being
Dr. Shotonade also discussed essential health topics, such as cardiovascular diseases, prostate cancer, mental wellness, and lifestyle habits for sustained physical, social, and mental wellbeing. He encouraged men to be intentional about self-care, early screenings, consistent medical check-ups, and healthy daily routines.
The webinar inspired a noticeable shift in mindset among participants. Attendees shared that the session opened their eyes to the importance of taking their health more seriously with many expressing renewed motivation to adopting a healthier lifestyle.
The GMD (Group Managing Director) of ipNX, Ejovi Aror, shared a personal experience with sleep apnea caused by the impact of inadequate rest, reinforcing the importance of rest while advising the staff to prioritize their health and ensure a work-life balance.
Reinforcing ipNX’s commitment to employee wellness, Mr. Olusola Teniola, Director, Strategic Business Initiatives, remarked during the closing session: “Today’s conversation is an important reminder that while we celebrate the men in our lives, we must also encourage them to take their health seriously. This webinar is a wakeup call and reminder to all our men to please prioritize your check-ups, pay attention to your mental well-being, and make healthy habits a non-negotiable part of your life.”
To further commemorate International Men’s Day, ipNX created a special IMD video celebrating the dedication, leadership, and impact of the men of ipNX.
The International Men’s Day webinar is part of ipNX’s ongoing commitment to employee wellness and social impact initiatives, providing valuable guidance and fostering a work culture where mental and physical health is prioritized.
We celebrate our male colleagues today and always.
Happy International Men’s Day!
